How do you measure progress when the goal is healing, stability, and independence? That’s the kind of question our Master in International Management students tackled in their ECCA Social Project-Based Learning experience.

This was not just a data exercise. It was a journey into how social impact can—and should—be measured with depth and care.

Real challenges. Human outcomes.

ECCA Social is an organization that supports women who have experienced domestic abuse. Their programs offer education and job training, helping these women regain control over their lives. While the organization already tracks basic indicators for financial reporting, they wanted to go further.

As part of this ECCA Social Project-Based Learning, students were invited to design a more complete and meaningful impact assessment system—one that captures the long-term changes in the lives of the women supported.

From job placement to lasting change

The students began by understanding ECCA Social’s mission and the realities of the women it serves. Then, they proposed new tools and frameworks to measure not only job placement, but also financial stability, psychological well-being, and social reintegration.

This meant working with both qualitative and quantitative data. Interviews. Surveys. Scales. Structured questions. All designed to help ECCA Social see what’s working, where to improve, and how to communicate their true value to funders and partners.

In short, this ECCA Social Project-Based Learning experience was about redefining what success looks like—and how to prove it.

Learning with purpose

For the students, this was more than an academic project. It was a powerful reminder of how management, strategy, and empathy come together to drive change.

They learned to ask better questions. To listen more deeply. And to design systems that not only measure impact—but multiply it.

The collaboration with ECCA Social showed them how much potential lies in connecting business tools with social missions. It also reminded us all that behind every number is a story. A name. A future being rebuilt.
