Our Master in Talent Management (HR) students successfully completed a hands-on Project-Based Learning (PBL) initiative.

The PBL aimed at improving talent management with Moda re-, a cooperative supported by Cáritas Madrid. Moda re- is dedicated to promoting social inclusion and the circular economy, making it an ideal partner for a project focused on meaningful impact.

The primary objective of this collaboration was to tackle key challenges in talent management processes within Moda re-’s retail operations. The students were tasked with designing actionable solutions in three areas critical to employee success: onboarding, job-specific training, and engagement strategies for store staff.

From Theory to Practice: Immersive Learning in Action

The project to improve talent management with Moda re- began with an initial briefing where Moda re- outlined their goals and challenges. To deepen their understanding, the students visited Cáritas’s central warehouse in Madrid. They gained valuable insights into the cooperative’s operations and the needs of its employees. With this foundation, the students worked diligently over several months to develop comprehensive proposals tailored to Moda re-’s unique context.

The onboarding strategy focused on creating a welcoming experience for new employees while ensuring they felt prepared and supported in their roles. For training, the students designed job-specific modules that emphasized both skill-building and alignment with Moda re-’s mission. Finally, the engagement plans included innovative approaches to boost motivation and foster a sense of belonging among the workforce.

Lessons That Last a Lifetime

Reflecting on the experience, Emilia Carrion, one of the participating students, shared:

“Onboarding is like building bridges—it’s not just about helping people cross into new opportunities but laying strong foundations for a transformative journey ahead. This project taught us practical skills for managing impactful projects and broadened our perspective on meaningful change.”

A Transformative Partnership

This collaboration highlights the value of combining academic learning with real-world impact. The solutions developed by our students not only addressed immediate challenges but also reinforced the importance of people-focused strategies in driving organizational success. By improving talent management with Moda re-, this initiative demonstrates how education can contribute to meaningful change.
