A master’s experience is not only defined by the classes, projects or professional opportunities it offers.

It is also defined by the people who become part of the journey.

For Loren Appelmann, MIF 25–26 student, Employability Team Student Collaborator and member of the Women in Finance Society, her time at Advantere has been shaped by learning, international exposure and, above all, community.

Throughout the year, she had the opportunity to meet inspiring leaders, professionals and mentors across different industries, gaining perspectives that will stay with her beyond the classroom. But what made the experience truly meaningful was the sense of belonging she found from the very beginning.

At Advantere, students arrive from different countries, backgrounds and personal stories. Over time, those differences become a source of learning. Friendships grow into a community, and shared experiences become part of a journey that extends far beyond the academic year.

For Loren, some of the most memorable moments came through international experiences such as Zurich and Georgetown University. These trips were not only opportunities to learn in new academic and professional contexts, but also moments that brought the group closer together.

Georgetown was especially memorable: from sustainability discussions and project work to watching the World Cup together, cheering for one another’s countries and celebrating each match as a shared experience.

These moments reflect something essential about the Advantere experience: learning happens in the classroom, but also through the conversations, friendships and perspectives that students build along the way.

Because some of the most valuable lessons are not only found in what we study.

They are found in the people we meet, the places we discover and the community we carry with us after the program ends.
